Quay County (pronounced "kway") is a county located in the U.S. state of New Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the population was 10,155. Its county seat is Tucumcari.
History
Founded on January 28, 1903. It was named for Pennsylvania senator Matthew Quay, who supported New Mexican statehood.
